Rensselaer, Ind. – Oct. 31, 2025
Jasper County REMC today announced the retirement of CEO and General Manager Jon Rich effective Dec. 1, closing out a 21-year career with the electric cooperative.
Rich joined the Rensselaer-based electric distribution cooperative in December 2004 as a billing assistant/IT system administrator, eventually stepping into the IT system administrator role full-time. He became CEO and general manager in July 2021.
“On behalf of the board, I thank Jon for his many years of dedicated service to our cooperative,” said Bart Nesius, Jasper County REMC Board President. “His commitment, including his hard work in bringing high-speed internet to our members, has made a lasting impact on the communities we serve. We are deeply grateful and we wish Jon and his family the very best in his retirement.”
The Jasper County REMC board of directors will name an interim CEO to serve while it conducts a national search for its next leader to guide the organization’s future, advance strategic goals, and ensure the electric cooperative continues to meet the evolving needs of the community.
Under Rich’s leadership, the organization built its high-speed internet division, Connect – Internet by Jasper County REMC. Currently, nearly 650 previously unserved or underserved homes and businesses have access to a quality internet connection. Upon completion of the project, approximately 5,700 addresses will have access to fiber internet, creating benefits to education, health, and economic development.
